SHELLebrating the 4th with Fireworks and a Patriotic Peanut
The East Team and Mr. Peanut recently had the privilege of working the 4th of July SHELLebration in New York City this year. We were set up on the landing where several peanut enthusiasts stopped to take photos with Mr. Peanut and his new NUTmobile. Mr. Peanut even showed off his Independence Day pride by sporting his red, white, and blue ribbons and posing for photos with a few other patriotic people.
Once the sun had set, thousands of people lined the piers to watch the extravagant fireworks show in downtown New York City. We had the chance to watch the show from the pier with fireworks going off all around us, and for the first time ever, they were also shot off from the Brooklyn Bridge! Fireworks lit up the sky all around us and provided us with an opportunity that won’t soon be forgotten as we had one shell of a time.

Our Life in a NUTSHELL…

Greetings and SALTutations, legume lovers! Sweet ‘n’ Salty Lauren, Dry Roasted Dani, and Smoked Almond Adam, here, coming at you for what will be the last time as our East-to-West nut crackin’ fest comes to an end.
We can NUT believe that our journey SHELLING around the country is over! When we started our tour last June, a year seemed like an eter-NUT-y, but it has absolutely flown by.

All year, we’ve been on a TRAIL MIX’d with several stops, making people happy any way PE-CAN, and creating countless memories along the way. So, before we say “CASHEW LATER” for the last time, here are a few of our favorite memories and final thoughts that capture our year, IN A NUTSHELL…

Sweet ‘n’ Salty Lauren:“There are so many wonderful memories I have with this job, however my favorites revolve around my two NUTTY companions. Whether it was skydiving in Tennessee, trying new local cuisines, working football games or walking in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, one constant is that Dry Roasted Dani and Smoked Almond Adam have always been there with me. Not only are they my co-workers, fellow tourists, and best friends, but they are my family now. This tour has been such an amazing opportunity for me. I’ve grown not only professionally, but also personally. I’ve met some amazing people while on this TRAIL MIX'd with countless stops and everyone has made an impression on me.”

Dry Roasted Dani:“It’s amazing how much can happen in a year, and we’ve certainly packed our past year full to the brim with incredible memories and experiences. The adventures I’ve shared with Lauren and Adam have brought us so close together and I’ll take their friendship and support with me everywhere I go for the rest of my life. We’ve seen a lot together, and I think it’s safe to say that our experiences simply wouldn’t have been the same without all of the wonderful people we met along the way. One of the most rewarding parts of this job has been the opportunity to encounter the wonderful diversity of humanity in this country, meeting people from all walks of life and watching the NUTmobile unite everyone under the umbrella of happiness! (Was that corny? I don’t care—it’s true!)”

Smoked Almond Adam:“I still remember meeting my partners Dry Roasted Dani and Sweet and Salty Lauren for the first time in the airport.  While we were standing by the baggage claim and making some small talk about the weather and what a bizarre adventure we were about to start, I would never have guessed that I had just gained two sisters.  I’m going to miss them like crazy.  I’m also going to miss packing up every week and heading to a new city.  It was like being a cowboy headed to unknown lands but instead of a horse I had a giant peanut. I learned a lot from Dani, Lauren, and the thousands of people I met.  While this tour has prepared me for future adventures, many years will pass before I run out of tales from the TRAIL MIX. “

So, friends, there you have it. After seeing over half of the country and meeting more people than we can count, the first official yearlong NUTmobile tour is drawing to an end. While we will all miss the NUTmobile and Mr. Peanut, we’re excited to see what the future has in store for us. We’re also thrilled to be handing the NUTmobile keys over to the next class of Peanutters starting in June! So keep your eyes peeled for the new nuts—you’d P-NUTS to miss them!
